What you'd do

This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as Defense Threat Reduction Agency's principal representative to a supported Combatant Command (CCMD), Sub-Unified Command, Agency or Partner Nation staff. The duration Combatant Command Representative (CCR) tours will be "3 year appointment with the option to extend in 1-year increments, not to exceed 5 years"

Major duties

As a COMBATANT COMMAND REPRESENTATIVE at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serve as the DTRA Director's representative to the supported command. On-site lead for the DTRA team at the supported command. Provides guidance and leadership to the DTRA team on-site. Coordinates with Headquarters Staff, Agencies, Commanders, and Senior Leaders of the supported command. Establishes working and professional relationships with key leaders and staff at the supported command(s) and DTRA HQ. Communicates customer challenges or deficiencies (gaps) that can be addressed by DTRA capabilities. Advises DTRA leadership and staff on combatant command issues and integration of DTRA capabilities. Maintains situational awareness of the supported commands operations, activities and initiatives. Advises and assists planners with design, planning and execution of the Agency's involvement in the supported commands joint training events and joint exercises. Makes determinations and recommendations of required DTRA capabilities in response to crisis and conflict. Assists in coordinating key leader engagements and correspondence with the supported command. Operating within the joint special operations formations and having a broad understanding of the roles and authorities of SOCOM Headquarters, and the missions of SOCOM's Service Component and Theater Special Operational Commands.

What you need to qualify

You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service: Provides strategic direction and executive leadership to a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team of military and civilian experts, driving operational synergy to achieve critical mission-essential tasks and command objectives; Orchestrates strategic communications and executive-level briefings (written and oral) for Flag/General Officers, Senior Executive Service (SES) members, and interagency partners to synchronize situational awareness on time-sensitive, critical national security information; Leverages comprehensive, theatre-level expertise within the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (CBRN-D) and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (C-WMD) enterprises to integrate specialized defensive capabilities directly into Special Operations Command (SOCOM) operational designs; Directs joint special operations planning, deliberate campaign planning, and crisis action procedures (CAP) at the Combatant Command (COCOM) level, coordinating seamlessly across the Joint Staff to execute high-visibility, multi-domain operations; Leading advanced threat analysis, developing theater-level plans and policies, and spearheading risk-mitigation frameworks to counter active WMD and CBRN threats to forward-deployed forces. (EXPERIENCE MUST BE CLEARLY DEMONSTRATED IN YOUR RESUME) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
