This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Technician / Administrative Support Work Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - DKAGAA-ID61.

Major duties

The purpose of this position is to provide for the development of the incumbent through on-the-job experience and training covered by a formal training program. Assists in troubleshooting accessibility and availability problems and initiates corrective actions. Ensures basic application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of services. Performs a variety of limited technical tasks designed to familiarize the incumbent with regulatory guidelines, terminology, procedures and techniques of Information Technology.

Student Trainees qualify based on their educational achievements. To be eligible for the Student Internship Program, you must submit unofficial/official transcripts with the current enrollment period course load along with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 - The absence of this information will result in an ineligible rating. To qualify at the 02 - Completion of high school diploma or equivalent degree. To qualify at the 03 - Completion of I full academic year of post-high school study. To qualify at the 04 - Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. ***Per OPM - Student Trainee Requirements for initial appointment - The required education must lead to a bachelor's degree with specialization in or directly related to the field in which the student trainees will receive training on the job. The degree of specialization in this field must satisfy on graduation the specific educational requirements in the qualification standard for the corresponding two-grade interval positions. ***Please Note (99 Trainee Series): Trainees qualify based on semester hours and are exempt from standard Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) or Basic Requirements. However, upon completing the internship program, they must meet all applicable OPM-prescribed IOR or Basic Requirements to qualify for conversion. ***You must provide your transcript showing current enrollment or acceptance for the current year summer, or fall semester - The transcript must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. The absence of this information will result in an ineligible rating***
