POLICE OFFICER
What you'd do
You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVBASE POINT LOMA SEC DET. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number: ST-13003935-26-TAF. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement.
Major duties
You will Perform a variety of routine law enforcement and security duties, such as responding to standard service calls and conducting patrols, under regular supervision while in a training and developmental capacity. You will have the ability to interpret and apply established guidelines and procedures to common incidents, referring more complex situations or deviations to a supervisor for guidance. You will demonstrate the capacity to learn and apply skills in traffic safety management, basic investigation, and the use of specialized law enforcement equipment and computer systems. You will Independently handle a range of law enforcement duties, including investigating minor crimes, managing traffic incidents, and enforcing laws and regulations with progressively less supervision. You will Exercise judgment in resolving common incidents and is expected to handle more difficult and responsible assignments as experience is gained, working towards the full performance level. You will have a foundational knowledge of anti-terrorism, physical security, and investigative techniques, sufficient to conduct preliminary inquiries and support higher-level investigations

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. For the GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Issuing citations for violations of the law; 2) Preparing reports and orders for other law enforcement officials; 3) Protecting property, equipment, data or materials; and 4) Arresting and detaining citizens who are in violation of the law. For the GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of law enforcement procedures, regulations and operations to perform routine, recurring kinds of fixed post assignments; 2) Preparing police reports concerning incidents and actions taken; 3) Respond to emergency calls for service while adhering to state and federal laws; and 4) Patrolling areas to detect, deter, and defend against threats.
