What you'd do

You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST in the CORPORATE OPERATIONS, HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICE of NAVWARSYSCEN PACIFIC SAN DIEGO CA.

Major duties

You will perform a variety of moderately complex tasks assigned to increase the employee knowledge and understanding of the Human Resources functions. You will advise on and/or resolve moderately complex, non-controversial, factual, procedural and/or recurring issues. You will make informed judgments on problems and issues; perform management advisory services for specific requests related to immediate problems of limited scope. You will adhere to instructions, policies and guidelines in exercising judgment to resolve commonly encountered work problems and deviations, and bring controversial information to the supervisor’s attention for direction. You will independently plan and carry out the assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices.

What you need to qualify

NO-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band NO-02 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting management in a wide range of staffing issues such as workforce shaping, special placement programs and recruitment methods. Reviewing position descriptions (PD's) for accuracy and proper classification, responding to formal/informal HR-related inquiries, and assisting employees with HR questions and issues. NO-02: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band NO-01 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Reviewing non-competitive personnel and pay actions for accuracy and completeness. Advising management on the appropriate type of recruitment sources and appointing authorities in both the competitive and excepted service to achieve their recruiting goals. Utilizing database systems (e.g., DCPDS and USA Staffing) to complete recruitment and classification tasks. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
