FINANCIAL MANAGER
What you'd do
You will serve as a COMPTROLLER and Department Head in the Comptroller Department (Code 600) of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).
Major duties
You will serve as the chief financial advisor to the Shipyard Commander and senior leaders. You will serve as the department head and supervise a diverse workforce across multiple divisions and grade levels. You will analyze complex accounting and budget metrics to provide the forecasts, trends, and risk assessments that guide executive decisions. You will direct the planning, formulation, and execution of the complex annual budget. You will manage composite funding structures that combine Mission and cost-reimbursable funds. You will ensure financial integrity, compliance, and solvency under federal fiscal laws within the financial management system. You will oversee the command’s travel and property management systems. You will develop, implement, and evaluate financial policies and standard operating procedures. You will use these guidelines to manage risk and resource allocations across a complex shipyard environment. You will direct personnel actions, including scheduling, training, discipline, labor relations, and strategic workforce planning.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: interpreting and implementing financial and budgetary policies; advising senior leaders on financial impacts of decisions; and managing complex financial programs in a dynamic, multi-funded (mission and reimbursable) environment while ensuring compliance with fiscal laws, financial system integrity, and organizational financial stability.
