NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTOR SUPERVISOR
What you'd do
You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTOR SUPERVISOR in the NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTION AND NDT DIVISION (CODE 135), QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
You will direct and oversee inspections of Visual, Liquid Penetrant (Group 1 and 3), Magnetic Particle (Dry and Wet Methods), Eddy Current (welds, surface and tubing inspections), Radiography, X-Ray and Ultrasonic as they relate to surface . You will communicate both orally and in writing with contacts established with all levels of personnel within the NDT Division and Shipyard organizations that require Nondestructive Testing services ships and submarine structural. You will read and follow technical work documents, mechanical and structural drawings, NDT Instructions and procedures, Industrial Process Instructions, Quality Assurance Instructions, NAVSEA, Military and commercial standards and specifications. You will develop budget estimates based on workload, experience and needs of the division.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Ability to Supervise by utilizing knowledge of the principles, and theories of the NDT inspection, methods and processes related to Visual (VT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Eddy Current (ET), Ultrasonic (UT) and Radiography (RT) Reviewing and analyzing work accomplishments, cost, and utilization of subordinates to evaluate work progress, control costs, and anticipate and avoid possible problems by recommending corrective action to superiors. Coordinating manpower and material expenditures that are directly linked to program/mission objectives, ensuring that expenditures remain within approved budget levels. Reading and following technical work documents, mechanical and structural drawings, NDT Instructions and procedures, Industrial Process instructions, Quality Assurance Instructions, and commercial standards and specifications.
