SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER
What you'd do
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the SYSTEMS ENGINEER (ROD CONTROL) BR 23307 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
You will assign work to subordinate personnel, ensure timely completion and quality or work. You will resolve technical, engineering and design problems beyond the capacity of the Branch personnel and make recommendations for improvements. You will schedule the work of the branch in accordance with project schedules. You will manage projects such as overhaul, troubleshooting, testing and grooming involved with electrical nuclear work packages on a complete ship basis. You will serve as NNSY's specialist in nuclear grooming in the area of electrical instrumentation and control systems and related components.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying scientific principles, particularly those of higher mathematics and physical and engineering science. Experience applying electrical engineering concepts and terminology. Experience in the area of reactor controls and instrumentation engineering and related components in nuclear power plants for submarines or similar. Experience applying operational knowledge of electrical instrumentation and control requirements and systems. Experience applying basic nuclear physics to radiation and radiological controls, general design and operational theory of fluid systems equipment, nuclear plant safety, overall reactor theory and casualty procedures. Experience mentoring and leading personnel in the realm of engineering.
