About the Position: This is a Medical Support Assistant position located at Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Major duties
Maintain a close working relationship with wards and clinics and their primary supervisors or medical officials to assist them in assuring appropriate quality of admissions. Assess eligibility of admitted service members, dependents, retirees, local and national political leaders, judges, and Veterans. Provide advisory services to management on admissions and transfer procedures. Assist in the pulling of medical records for monthly external reviews. Coordinate incoming transfers from other facilities, ensuring bed on applicable ward.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling patient appointments, preparing a variety of reports utilizing office automation tools such as Military Health System (MHS) Genesis, and documenting patient charts in a medical treatment facility or clinic setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
