ENGINEER or SCIENTIST
What you'd do
This is a detail opportunity open to Department of Navy permanent civilian employees in the competitive service currently at the ND-04 pay band (GS-12 /13 equivalency) or higher. The selectee will be placed on a temporary detail not to exceed 1 year. The detailee for this position will serve as an ENGINEER or SCIENTIST in the office of Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport Division
Major duties
You will perform tasks involving the research, design, operation, maintenance and development of complex systems and the equipment and/or components, architectures, or data related to those systems. You will be responsible for working with and leading a project team in the development of systems or subsystems related to Undersea Warfare. You will apply and develop system and sub-system requirements and specification documents. You will serve as a subject matter expert and productive team member. You will participate and lead various Undersea Systems and Subsystems Integrated Product Team (IPTs)meetings. You will review and analyze system requirement specifications and technical design review packages and providing subject matter expert comments and updates. You will engage in system engineering efforts including cost and schedule as well as technical aspects. You will prepare proposals and budget estimates for new and existing tasking. You will communicate project schedule, status, analysis, test results and risks to technical and management personnel based on your area of responsibliity.
What you need to qualify
This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled by a Computer Engineer (0854-series), a Chemical Engineer (0893 series), a Mathematics (1520-series), a Computer Scientist (1550 series) or a Data Scientist (1560 series), depending upon the qualifications of the candidate.
