SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
What you'd do
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN as the ASSISTANT CHIEF ENGINEER in the WATERFRONT SUPPORT BRANCH, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. ***TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR AND MAY BECOME PERMANENT without further competition***
Major duties
You will provide authoritative guidance, direction and leadership to staff and to the higher commands. You will direct and coordinate the establishment of new policies, instructions, and procedures for the analysis, progress, and control of Division work. You will determine training requirements for subordinate employees. You will ensure compliance with shipyard cost control procedures and for the accuracy of charging practices within the Division.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience analyzing and developing recommendations for improvement in submarine maintenance support capabilities. * Experience working in the fields of submarine design, construction, and the operation of submarine systems. * Experience codifying standards, evaluating requirements, and implementing guidelines from DOD, Department of the Navy, federal, state, and local regulations. * Experience planning and scheduling work, setting priorities, assigning work, setting performance standards and evaluating performance. * Experience resolving technical, scientific, engineering, and design problems which involve policy determinations or interpretations.
