What you'd do
About the Position: Serves as Chief, Operations Support Branch supervising and providing direction to the Project Support and Natural Resource Sections which provide technical support to 6 operating projects and the District communications systems supporting these projects; and the Dredged Materials Management Office (DMMO) which is responsible for evaluating dredged material for Corps navigation projects.
Major duties
Serves as an expert and technical advisor on matters pertaining to operation and maintenance of multipurpose facilities, hydropower generating facilities and navigation assets. Provides planning and policy recommendations to the Puget Sound Dredged Disposal Analysis Program (PSDDA) and other activities such as multi-user disposal sites, sediment cleanup, superfund and the Grays Harbor Dredged Disposal Study. Provides oversight to technical staff managing hydro, flood risk management, recreation, and environmental stewardship business lines. Provides long range planning and policy recommendations on additions or modifications to the equipment installed at the operating projects and on scheduling and modifications to navigation projects. Studies technical directives to determine impact on services provided and further planning and resolves complications resulting from apparent conflict in present operations and directives. Implements and executes the District’s Electric Reliability Program, Change Control Board for Industrial Control Systems, and Asset Management Programs including management of condition assessment, participation in capital improvement execution. Plans, directs and coordinates administrative and difficult and responsible professional engineering and/or scientific work in connection with the operation, maintenance, and repair of hydroelectric power plants, reservoirs and flood control dams.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget Administration Leadership Oral Communication Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
