What you'd do

You will serve as a Mechanical Engineer in the Waterfront Programs Engineering Division - Dry Docks and Utilities Engineering Branches (Code 900F.3) of PSNS and IMF.

Major duties

You will review previous projects, plans, applicable codes, and new developments in industrial processes and equipment. You will analyze system demands, determine capacities, operational parameters, environmental/safety criteria, and maintenance requirements. You will perform detailed engineering studies, tests, and evaluations of manufacturing systems including gas and liquid flow analysis, heat transfer, piping and structural assembly, stress analysis, and system performance. You will prepare manufacturing drawings, supporting calculations, specifications, and direct and advise other engineers and technicians in the design, review, and specification of industrial support facilities and plant equipment. You will plan, research, develop, layout, and coordinate the addition, renovation, and alteration to existing facilities and equipment.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Engineer applying technical knowledge in the design, installation, maintenance, operations, or evaluation of systems to solve problems and furnish technical advice in an organization.
