Major duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) Los Angeles AFB, El Segundo, CA is searching for a Cost Analyst to support SSC/FM (NH-1515-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent). The area offers a multitude of sandy choices, from Santa Monica to Redondo with plenty of things to do in between including hiking trails, breweries, sporting events, museums, piers, theme parks, zoos, and more. There is only 1 place in the world where you can surf and snowboard all in the same day, and it is in Southern California! Space Systems Command is the birthplace of U.S. Space Force's ballistic missile and military space program and is the center of acquisition excellence for acquiring and developing military space systems. Our portfolio includes the Global Positioning System, military satellite communications, defense meteorological satellites, space launch and range systems, satellite control networks, space based infrared systems and space situational awareness capabilities. Ideal Candidate: Ability to perform a broad range of cost research/analyses in support of SYDs/PAEs by developing methodologies for evaluating cost effectiveness of advanced weapon systems. Possess analytical and mathematical abilities. Collect and analyze raw data. Defend findings/cost methods/analysis. Statistical analysis. Ability to apply qualitative techniques and develop, adapt, modify, and apply cost models to solve problems, or define and clarify alternative solutions for management. Ability to effectively communicate results. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of a broad range of operations research analysis techniques and possession of analytical abilities. 2. Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions. 3. Skill to negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts. 4. Ability to lead study teams and originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints. 5. Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques, and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relations.
