What you'd do

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Arts and Crafts at Keesler AFB. . This is a Regular Part Time (RPT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave.

Major duties

Operates the Engraving Shop Equipment and functional area. Develops layouts for awards, plaques, etched glass, special items, and transfers using lettering, artwork, and information provided by the customer. Coordinates with customer and makes suggestions for positions, sizes, colors, etc. of artwork and other graphics. Uses the computer to produce masters for processing, painting, and engraving, Resizes layout and prescribes necessary dimensions to fit desired media to be printed. Uses artistic capabilities to ensure satisfactory products. Schedules work to completed in a timely manner. Operates sublimations and color printers for transfers, heat press, mug press, cap press, rotary engravers, computerized laser engraver, assorted cutters, and additional equipment and tools associated with this service. Sets up equipment to print or process on a variety of products to include, but no limited to glass, metal, plastic, acrylic, pottery, fabric, and ceramics. Operates the Engraving Shop retail operations in the Skills Development Center. Determines items to be stocked, submits order requests and inventories merchandise upon receipt and monthly. Assists with resolving inventory variances and identifies damaged merchandise for vendor replacement. Researches supply catalogs for new items and customer driven merchandise. Maintains security and accountability of all merchandise and equipment. Provides customer service at the counter, completing order forms with appropriate information and getting customer name and phone number. Monitors deposits, completed payments and designed transfer paperwork to ensure proper payment for completed orders. Answers the phone, prepare, and displays samples and other shop merchandise. Ensures cleanliness of work area and performs minor maintenance of equipment. Uses manufacturer tech reps. and hotline phone numbers to do additional adjustments to equipment and to identify parts for replacement. Trains new employees to assist in customer service operations and assembly of shop products. Performs other related duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Professional experience in the use and general maintenance of all equipment described in engraver duties. Must use English and metric measurements. Must be able to read, write and speak English and do basic arithmetic. Must possess written communication skills and the ability to perform basic math computations to process paperwork and perform physical inventories. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. A clear speaking voice is required. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Must be able to work under short deadlines and shifting priorities while maintaining a courteous and professional attitude when helping customers. Subject to cuts, burns, bruises, loud noises, dust particles, chemicals and adhesives. Subject to uncommon work schedule.
