About the Position: This position is located at the 10th Medical Group, Air Force Academy, El Paso County, Colorado. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive MAY be authorized. Salary negotiation MAY be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment MAY be authorized. Non-Federal work experience MAY be creditable for leave purposes.
Major duties
Perform pharmacy dispensing services. Receive and review individual prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals Answer routine inquiries from doctors, nurses, and other medical staff on the availability of specific items, e.g., drugs in stock, new drugs on order, and dosage forms available in the pharmacy. Provide drug information to patients and caregivers and counsels patients/caregivers on proper medication use. Operate pharmacy equipment such as precision balances, colloid mills, filtering machines, tube filling, and crimping machines. Prepare, package, and label prescriptions and drug orders as ordered by the pharmacist and in accordance with (IAW) pharmaceutical rules, regulations, and procedures.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Pharmacy Technician: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes filling and distributing pharmaceuticals; maintaining accurate inventory of all controlled substances; and utilizing automated Pharmacy based computer systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
