Electrician (High Voltage)

This position is within the Electric Shop, Maintenance and Repair Section of the Engineer Service at the Bath VA Medical Center in Bath, NY.

Physical Effort and Work Conditions: The person in this position is required to work from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms in hard-to-reach places, inside and outside. Work is completed from a high reach bucket truck to repair street and all lighting fixtures. Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions is required. Lifts and carries weight up to 20 lbs. and occasionally over 20 lbs. The work environment can be dirty, dusty, greasy, noisy, and occasionally work has to be done in inclement weather. Exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, strains, burns, and electrical shock may be present. Occasionally work must be completed in manholes, attic spaces, and pits. The person in this position is expected to utilize appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, helmets, earmuffs, insulated gloves, etc., follow all safety policies and procedures and attend safety training.
