Emergency Management Specialist (Mitigation)

This Emergency Management Specialist (Mitigation) position in the Region 8 Mitigation Division will manage and coordinate implementation of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and HMGP Post Fire with internal and external partners, providing essential grants oversight, technical assistance, and services. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of hazard mitigation programs, grants management, and related regulations, policies, and procedures.

To qualify for this Emergency Management Specialist (Mitigation) position at the IC-09 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-07 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Assisting in the application of hazard mitigation grant program policies, guidelines, and processes to provide technical advice and guidance; and, Utilizing qualitative and quantitative data collection methods in fact-finding and analysis of issues necessary to complete each phase of assigned projects; and, Coordinating with senior staff in their hazard mitigation engagements with State, Local, Tribal and Territorial stakeholders. To qualify for this Emergency Management Specialist (Mitigation) position at the IC-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Applying in-depth knowledge of hazard mitigation grant program policies, guidelines, and processes to provide technical advice and guidance; and, Collecting, analyzing, preparing and presenting data and making recommendations to senior management and/or other internal or external stakeholders; and, Collaborating on, coordinating, and attending hazard mitigation engagements with State, Local, Tribal and Territorial stakeholders. To qualify for this Emergency Management Specialist (Mitigation) position at the IC-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Applying thorough knowledge of hazard mitigation grant program policies, guidelines, and processes to provide technical advice and guidance; and, Managing and coordinating the collection, analysis, and presentation of complex data/reports and providing recommendations to senior management and/or other internal or external stakeholders; and, Leading and facilitating hazard mitigation engagements with State, Local, Tribal and Territorial stakeholders.
