Job Description
You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Engineering and Planning Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR. This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program position. Qualifications
The Upward Mobility Program is a unique job opportunity. This program is designed to provide Department of Navy employees career growth opportunities who have potential but do not meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements for this position. The entry level for this position is GS-09 with a full performance level of GS-12. Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of individually tailored training plans to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position. Eligibility requires that employees be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions. This recruitment is open current UIC 68438 employees with GS-09 or GS-10 or WG-10 (or higher) equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to: For GS-10:ability to analyze and develop technical engineering procedures or work methods to identify, evaluate and resolve operational problems or work control deficiencies and recommend improved work procedures or corrective action in support of the repair, modification, or overhaul of ships or submarines. For GS-09: Ability to evaluate technical engineering procedures or work methods to identify, evaluate or resolve operational problems or work control deficiencies to recommend improved work procedures or corrective action in support of the repair, modification, or overhaul of ships or submarines. Employee Participation Requirements: Must be a current permanent employee serving under a competitive appointment, or under a time-limited or excepted appointment that provides for noncompetitive conversion to a permanent appointment (e.g., VRA, Schedule A) Employees must be GS-09, or GS-10, or WG-10 equivalent (or higher) to be eligible for this opportunity. Have and maintain an annual performance rating of fully successful or equivalent rating.
