Job Description
This position located in the Patient Care Service, at the Tomah, VA Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to provide Health Care aid at the Health Care System VISN and facility levels. The position is responsible for delivering a broad array of health care services throughout the Medical Center, and it's various locations that provide in patient care, such as but not limited to the living centers.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/07/2025. Preferred Experience: Previous patient care experience, assisting with feeding patients, pushing wheelchairs, and etc. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-2 General Experience: You must have 3 months of general experience. General Experience: (1) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, OR (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing selected patient/resident related transports to different areas. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have High school graduation or the equivalent. GS-3 General Experience: You must have 6 months of general experience. General Experience: (l) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, OR (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing selected patient/resident related transports to different areas. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume. OR, Education: Successfully completed 1 year above high school with course(s) related to the occupation. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. **NOTE** Transcripts are required if using combination. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work requires long periods of standing, with minor bending, lifting and pushing. The work may include carrying different sizes and weights of items. The work also requires agility and dexterity to handle papers, books, charts, boxes of copier paper and medical supplies.
