Job Description
Position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare, Division of Appeals Operations (DAO), Medicare Enrollment & Appeals Group (MEAG). As a HEALTH INSURANCE SPECIALIST, GS-0107-14, you will serve as a technical authority and program expert providing high-level technical expertise on cross-cutting operational activities to include the following areas: Medicare Parts A,B, C, & D claim appeals and grievances.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: Negotiating or collaborating with staff to provide guidance on applying contract administration principles to Medicare claim appeals contract oversight work; Developing budget projections, requests, or presentations related to budget and financial issues regarding the Medicare claim appeals process; AND Interpreting or applying Medicare claim appeals laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures to address acquisition issues or explain processes, orally or in writing, to the appropriate audience. COR III Certification Required - You MUST possess and maintain a COR III certification for this position. (Note: Documentation demonstrating that you possess your COR III Certification must be uploaded at time of application.) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
