Job Description
About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common duties of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Supervisor which include reviewing and analyzing work accomplishments of subordinate work groups ensuring they meet schedules and deadlines; overseeing mechanical equipment repair, preservation, and quality control to anticipate and resolve issues; supports depot level maintenance, managing depot operations and field repair teams (CONUS/OCONUS); and works to improve equipment and facility layout. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Most work is performed at a desk; however, due to the supervised nature of work, the incumbent may be required to work in tight and uncomfortable positions for long periods. Work requires frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, crouching and laying. Sometimes it works on top of and under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying or sitting. Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 45 lbs., and often puts forth similar effort in pushing, pulling, and turning, positioning, and adjusting parts, assemblies, equipment and tools. Lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers and/or lifting devices. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside buildings, in shops and outside with exposure to wide variations in weather and temperature. Incumbent is exposed to potential injury from power tools and danger from flying objects, cuts and scrapes, is expose to traffic hazards while driving on both improved and unimproved road surfaces. May occasionally make repairs when noxious fumes are present. There is exposure to insect, spider and snakebites.
