Job Description
This position serves as a Inventory Management Specialist (NX) in the Logistics Service. Responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all non-expendable (NX) equipment. Conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning for new and replacement NX assets, utilizing computerized planning tools. Analyzes projected lifecycle, down time, repair rates, lost workload, cost. depreciation, trade-in value data which impact procurement decisions.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/27/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For a GA-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Preferred Experience: 3-5 years on medical equipment. Minimum Qualification Requirement: GS-07 LEVEL Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Schedules and conducts physical inventories. Maintains accountable property and receipt documents. Conducts market research on product pricing and performance. Analyzes and advises on equipment purchase recommendations. Identifies and rectifies asset management issues. Maintains equipment inventory lists. Manages the lifecycle of non-expendable assets. Or, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. Or, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education beyond a bachelors degree. GS-09 LEVEL Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Initiates and reviews reports for lost, damaged, or stolen property. Conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning for non-expendable assets. Ensures accuracy of all personal property records and property documents. Participates in facility strategic planning. Manages the property management program and determines the means and methods to resolve issues and improve operations. Traces sequences of inventory management transactions to resolve questions. Ensures accuracy of all personal property records and property documents. Or, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; or, two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or, LL.B. or J.D. Or, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 18 semester hours counting towards a master's degree. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Communication Contracting/Procurement Planning and Evaluating Problem Solving Technical Competence Technology Application Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Involves a mix of working in an office environment to working in a warehouse to assist in processing new equipment receipts and entering into the Ell. A great amount of time walking and climbing stairs is required to conduct on-site inventories of Ell equipment. Lifting of up to 40 pounds is required when receiving new equipment at the facility and preparing for the sale of excess property. Work conditions are often indoors, but could occasionally be dirty, hot, humid or unusually cold when involved in property inventories, disposal of equipment, transferring of equipment between serviced locations and recycling centers.
