Job Description
This position is located within the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS), Environmental Management Service (EMS) as part of the Textile Care Processing Facility (TCPF). The incumbent is responsible for ensuring accurate stock levels and customer service request are processed accurately for the Health Care System.
Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Duties require frequent maneuvering of heavy carts; both soil and clean, from using areas, carts that sometimes have a gross weight of 800 pounds or more. Duties required do extensive walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending and lifting of laundry bags, sometimes more than 75 pounds when linens are wet. While the major portion of the work is performed indoors on access ramps and hallways that are covered, and of which are adequately lighted, duties are required to travel back and forth from the laundry or linen room to the Medical Center out buildings in the outdoors. Employee is subject to cold and wet weather when traveling the outdoors. Also, during winter months, early daily hours require employee to work in areas where temperatures are less than normal. You may also be subject to possible health hazards from handling soiled linens. You will be subject to muscle stain because of bending stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
