Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: ???????This position involves work performing as a generalist in the areas of chemistry, serology, hematology, urinalysis, phlebotomy, front desk reception, and microbiology at Kenner Army Health Clinic. The hours are 0700-1600, Monday - Friday.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the EXPERIENCE requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting with the reviewing laboratory Standard Operating Procedures; 2) Preparing laboratory for Biennial CAP Inspection utilizing the College of American Pathology (CAP) Checklists; 3) Utilize tools such as Levey-Jennings Charts to generate daily/monthly Quality Control reports; and 4) Enter specimen information and test data into the laboratory information management system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). AND Certificate: This position has a selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment. Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT) or other board or registry deemed comparable by Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD(HA)) or their designee as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is required.
