MWR Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor (Marina)

Job Description

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department of Commander Navy Region Southwest (CNRSW). The primary purpose of this position is to ensure, through working and supervising construction and maintenance personnel in the safe and efficient construction and repair of recreational and athletic facilities.Additionally, the Marina and RV Park Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for forecasting material and manpower needs and organizing and directing resources.

Qualifications

Knowledge of care, maintenance and repair of sailboats, power boats, docks and RV pedestals Knowledge of care, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles Knowledge of recreational facility grounds maintenance techniques and requirements Knowledge of complexities and interrelationships of soils, fertilizers, irrigation, drainage and insect control, turf diseases, fungicides, herbicides, weeds and insects Skill in operating a forklift, tractor mower and other grounds equipment Knowledge of carpentry and skill in applying carpentry concepts such as interpreting sketches, drawings and blueprints Ability to compute, check and insure the consistency of the dimensions of a number of inter-locking parts Ability to make templates and patterns and to select appropriate machines, tools and techniques Knowledge of wood and wood substitute materials and construction techniques Ability to construct, alter, repair and install walls Ability to draw accurate sketches to specifications including accurate measurements Ability to interpret and apply building plans and blueprints, use shop mathematics, and lay out such things are angles, arcs and circles Knowledge, ability and skill in using a wide range of tools and machinery Knowledge of various properties and characteristics of wood materials Knowledge and ability to use variety of meters and testing and measuring equipment within the irrigation field Knowledge of standard plumbing methods and techniques and skill in using plumbing tools such as tapes, hacksaws, pipe threader, pipe wrenches, hammer, etc Skill in repairing and maintaining tools and equipment Skill in operating various lawn maintenance equipment Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties Knowledge of standard Non Appropriated Fund inventory and procument procedures Ability to make independent judgements and sound decisions Ability to maintain records and reports

Altered transcripts will not be accepted. Transcripts from foreign colleges must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered.
