MWR Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Sports Program Manager)

Job Description

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, Naval Base San Diego. MWR is assigned the responsibility of providing comprehensive fitness, athletic and recreational programs and activities. Incumbent is responsible for supervising, planning, scheduling, publicizing, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and coordinating an active year round program of competition for all organized sports and special events.

Qualifications

Knowledge of recreation policies, principles, concepts and methodology of recreation. Knowledge and skills required to plan. Implement and carry out all activities of a large and diverse recreation program. Ability to plan, assign, train and supervise the work of subordinates. Knowledge ofprogramming for leagues, toumament, rules, regulation and conduct of variety of sports and events. Knowledge of inventory procedures and controls. Ability to market programs. Knowledge of budget preparation and accounting systems and processes. Ability to make independent judgment and sound decisions. Knowledge of all types of exercise equipment and maintenance and repair of equipment. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in Must possess a valid Lifeguard Certificate within 90 days of employment. Must possess a valid CPR Card or be able to obtain within 30 days of employment.

If your degree has not been awarded and/or you possess certificates of completion for DoD approved competency-based training courses, and/or a valid CDA/MSA credential(s), you MUST also provide a copy of your HS Diploma or equivalent. Altered transcripts will not be accepted. Transcripts from foreign colleges must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered. Applicants are responsible to obtain and submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency which is a private U.S. organization. Credential evaluations are not free and applicants are responsible for the cost of the selected service.
