Job Description
About the Position: This is a full-time civilian faculty position at the U.S. Army War College (USAWC) School of Strategic Landpower, Department of Distance Education as provided under Title 10 USC. Initial appointment may be up to three years, the first of which may be a trial period. The appointment may be renewed in one- to five-year increments thereafter. Academic rank and salary will be based on the selectee's academic credentials, experience, and professional accomplishments.

This is a term appointment in the excepted service starting on or before 1 July 2026 and not to exceed 3 years. Appointment may be extended in one- to five-year increments thereafter. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualification Requirements: Degree: related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as data science, security studies, public policy, political science, or international relations ; OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the disciplines equivalent to a major in the field; OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the disciplines equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the Qualification Requirements above, applicants will be rated on the following: SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Demonstrated experience in the science and practice of the future security environment, joint concepts and operations, joint force development, strategic competition, and international conflict. OSD/Joint experience preferred. Proven ability of superlative teaching at the graduate, and/or Senior Service College level, to include using student learning management systems and collaboration tools (within the last three years highly desired) with an ability to synchronously and asynchronously manage an online seminar of 15-20 students. The ability to conceptualize, design, execute, and assess experiential learning activities that exercise students in applying theory to practice. Evidence of research and publications in areas relevant to the USAWC curriculum, specifically in a future context pertaining to the security environment, warfare, data analytics, emerging technology, or international conflict. Demonstrated both oral and written communication skills, with a record of successful student advising and assessment. Possess an advanced degree in a relevant field; Ph.D. preferred.
