Job Description

These positions are located in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program, Fleet Readiness Department in the Fitness/Sports and Deployed Support Department at MWR Fort Story Fitness- Virginia Beach.The purpose of this position is to serve as a Group Exercise Instructor demonstrating & leading safe & effective group exercise classes, applying the fundamental principles of exercise science, under the supervision of the assigned manager. Internal to current employees of JEBLCFS

A qualified candidate must possess: QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION: Must posses and maintain at all times a Certified Group Exercise Instructor/Trainer Certificate from one of the following organizations: American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); Cooper Institute; American Council on Exercise (ACE); Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA); American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA); National Dance Exercise Instructor Training Association (NDEITA);International Dance and Exercise (IDEA); Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA).Must possess and maintain at all times a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor certificate and First Aid Instructor certificate. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Position has been designated Non-Critical sensitive. As a position of trust and ITII position, employment is conditional on the successful completions of an Access National Agency Check (ANACI). Must possess and maintain a current driver's license to drive a government vehicle in the performance of duties may be required. Position is subject to an irregular tour of duty which may include weekends and holidays KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Must be a mature individual with prior leader/supervisory experience. Must possess an adequate level of physical fitness to use and demonstrate all exercises, and be able to lead all classes Excellent written and verbal communication and interview skills are required to assess patron needs and assist with the promotion and marketing of the program. Considerable tack and diplomacy as well as finesse are required when interacting with participants. Basic knowledge of marketing/publicity materials and the use of basic computer hardware and software is preferred.
