Job Description
The Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking a Senior Administrative Specialist. Qualifications
Other Duties/ Responsibilities Processes printing/stationery orders. Processes frame shop orders. Required Work Experience Five to seven years of customer service/receptionist experience. Required Special Skills/ Knowledge Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information. Strong knowledge in MS Office applications. Ability to work effectively with multiple management levels. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and functions, including policies and regulations set by the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration and the Senate Select Committee on Ethics. As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role. Desired Qualifications Previous congressional experience, preferably within a United States Senate office. A demonstrated commitment to delivering excellent customer service in a high-stakes professional environment. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Proven ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, or other human resources processes. Proficiency in office software and administrative tools, with the ability to quickly learn new systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all work products. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in improving processes and workflows. Working Conditions Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption.
