Job Description
The Dietitian, Whole Health Program Coordinator (WHPC) position reports to the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS), Mental Health at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center (JHQVAMC). The WHPC contributes and takes on leadership duties in the process of visioning, strategic planning, managing, and coordinating the implementation of the Whole Health System of Care.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency Requirement - Per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, Paragraph 3j: No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C., chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) - Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Current VHA Dietitians that qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision may not be promoted to a higher grade if they do not meet the current RDN/RD requirements. Grade Determinations: Experience: In additional to meeting the basic requirements as stated above, you must have the following: GS-13 Level: Experience/Education- Supervisory Dietitian (Facility Program Coordinator). GS-13 Supervisory Dietitian (Facility Program Coordinator)- In addition to meeting the basic requirements, to qualify for the GS-13 the candidate must possess at least 1 year of experience as an RDN/RD equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) and demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of program administration to establish and modify program goals and objectives, coordinate activities, evaluate accomplishments and solve problems. Skill in developing quality improvement or research activities. Skill in developing training and reference materials. Ability to supervise subordinate staff (i.e., plan, organize, delegate, direct, control and review activities and performance). Ability to develop policies and procedures. Ability to provide program-specific coordination to include leadership, technical advice and staff development. Preferred Experience: Experience working with and/or Supervising an interdisciplinary team, working with Veterans or Military Personnel, people with chronic pain and/or major medical issues. Experience utilizing biopsychosocial model of assessment and treatment, program development. Experience working with governing bodies such as Joint Commission.
