Job Description

The Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist is the senior supply chain management officer for VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) who oversees, guides, manages and integrates supply chain operations across the organization with multiple sites of care and support, and is responsible for the development and integration of a cohesive, forward-looking supply chain that ensures all logistical requirements.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 12/05/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS-13 grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-13 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience as a logistics management officer for a large federal facility; experience with integrating acquisitions and procurement, logistics and related support and services for the supply chain, expendable/non-expendable (EX/NX) and capital equipment, inventory management, storage and distribution operations, total supply support, and in some cases transportation, mail room, and reproduction; integrate and align acquisition, delivery and management of supplies, equipment and services to ensure the successful delivery of services.; standardize business processes, establishing performance measures and analysis of the supply chain, developing actions as a result of analysis results, metrics, quality assurance/compliance, operating practices, and reporting within the system and supported catchment area; and exercise supply chain management responsibility for the coordination and integration of new technology and/or implementation of new supply and equipment requirements. Preferred applicants will have 5 years of VA Supply Chain Management experience OR military Supply Chain Management experience. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching and climbing such as in performing regular and periodic construction activities, field inspections, or to observe and study work operations in an individual, storage, or comparable work area. Work may also include frequent lifting of moderately heavy items weighing less than 50 pounds, such as equipment, samples and drawings. Work Conditions: The Logistics Service conducts multiple shift operations 365 days a year. The medical center cannot be left without Logistics support. This necessitates the requirement for two or three shifts to meet emergent or unexpected demand on off hours, including afternoons, evenings, and weekend shifts.
