1-year non-reimbursable assignment Office of Health Security, Total Workforce Protection Directorate Veterinary Medical Officer / Veterinary Analyst Series Requested: 0701 Security Clearance: None In Person Only Only current, full-time federal employees are eligible. Qualifications

Qualifications required: A position in the Office of Health Security (OHS), Total Workforce Protection Directorate (TWPD), Health & Medical Readiness Division (HMRD). For a one-year detail, with possibility of extension. Primary Responsibilities: Assist with data collection and input for the Working Animal Veterinary Medical Matrix /Crosswalk: This tool aligns best practices for working canine and equine programs across federal and state agencies. It will support in developing Animal Health and Welfare Criteria for DHS operational animals. Assist in emergency response operations related to animal disease outbreaks, including quarantine measures and mitigation strategies. Attend meetings with DHS Components, the Canine and Equine Governance Board (CEGB), and other entities that have or assist Working Animal Programs. Research and compile health issues and topics that may impact working animal force Update and maintain organizational charts, directories, and contact lists. Communicate effectively with team members and Components, both verbally and in writing. Monitor and analyze veterinary and public health data to support the Senior Veterinarian in developing policies and regulations. Foster working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Assist in developing and enforcing veterinary protocols for disease prevention, vaccination, and treatment of DHS working animals. Contribute to health risk assessments for DHS personnel working with or near operational animals. Administrative & Program Support Duties: Perform general office duties such as filing, document management, and TWPD veterinary files organization. Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, coordinating meetings, and correspondence for senior leadership. Assist with coordinating travel arrangements and working animal visits. Assist with correspondence, emails, and other administrative tasks as needed.
