MANAGER
What you'd do
You will serve as a MANAGER in the Code 85B, Undersea Warfare Weapons, Vehicles, and Defensive Systems Deputy Department Head OR Code 75B Ocean Science, Autonomous Systems, and Ranges Deputy Department Head of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-6 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15.
Major duties
You will be responsible for the administrative and technical management of a large work force, consisting mainly of engineering and technician employees and subordinate supervisors You will coordinate/integrate the work of lower organizational units, identify where corrective action is needed and provide assistance/advice to lower-level supervisors and department personnel where problems exist or are developing. You will work closely with other managers outside the unit to further activity and agency programs. You will be the prime contact with the department's operations under his/her management responsibility and provide information and advice to higher level managers when the work of the unit impacts on other groups. You will be responsible for management of the Department’s Operations including planning, finances, human resources, Information/Technology, engineering, contracts and facilities. You will prepare the Department’s Annual Business Plan and coordinate Department Reviews with senior management; Track the Department’s overall financial performance and metrics, and develop and manage the Department’s operating budget. You will develop department technical and Business Health Assessments, prepare and coordinate the department staffing and hiring plans, provide DEMO oversight, monitor Department EEO adherence, track DAWIA compliance and review all personnel actions. You will develop department strategy and plans regarding NMCI, RDT/E network, and Information Assurance compliance.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-05 (GS-13/14 equivalency) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing or overseeing business and financial operations for a naval undersea warfare program.
