INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
What you'd do
You will serve as a INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Job Readiness Coordination Branch (JRC) (530.1), Project Support Division (530), Supply Department (500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Major duties
You will plan, evaluate, and select appropriate locations for storing items associated with the repair and maintenance of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines, surface ships and submersibles. You will perform status checks of material to ensure material is ready for issue upon completion of material needs review. You will coordinate production and material handlers to ensure timely and convenient material delivery (e.g. direct material issue, consumables, and hazardous material (HAZMAT). You will report on material vending and ensure correct items are vended.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing core material and supply principles, as well as DOD specific supply and material policies, procedures, regulations, and ability to interpret/translate same. Experience applying cradle-to-grave supply chain management concepts, various inventory storage requirements for ship material (e.g. long, short, wet, dry), and ability to make determinations. Experience planning, evaluating, and selecting appropriate locations for storing items. Experience performing inventory, status checks of material to ensure ready-for-issue, and reconciling material with inventories to identify late or missing deliveries. Experience prioritizing multiple resources and efforts simultaneously while operating in a high traffic and dynamic environment.
