What you'd do

You will serve as a Deputy CHENG (Specs, Standards, Policy, Safety, Certification & Quality) in the Submarine Direct Reporting Portfolio Manager (DRPM SUBS) Chief Operating Officer Office. You will serve as the ultimate technical authority and strategic visionary for the engineering enterprise, responsible for the overarching architecture, technical integrity, and successful integration of the nation's most complex and critical defense acquisition programs.

Major duties

You will serve as a senior technical authority and final decision-maker on complex engineering matters related to policy, technical standards, human capital development, system safety, reliability and maintainability, and industrial innovation. You will resolve critical engineering disputes across major defense acquisition programs. You will provide executive leadership and direction to the engineering workforce in executing and maintains policy, procedures, training tools for engineers, and fostering a culture of excellence, rigor, and innovation. You will drive the enterprise-wide adoption of advanced engineering practices with technical authority documents, including instructions, standards, qualified products and systems engineering artifacts, and ensures proper socialization and review. You will design, implement, and oversee enterprise engineering strategies, technical baselines, and system architectures to enhance Submarine Specs, Standards, Policy, Safety, Certification and Quality in support mission effectiveness. You will Serves as a recognized expert consultant and authority for complex engineering organizational, operational and improvement initiatives.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-03 (or GS-13 equivalency), in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Engineer leading acquisition development to incorporate standardization, commonality, configuration management, risk management, design of life cycle support, test and evaluation, or modeling and simulation submarine or undersea research and development for an Undersea program.
