What you'd do
This position will serve as a Management Analyst for the Dept. of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, San Francisco Region, Portland Area Office with duty location of Portland, OR. This position is at the full performance level. This position is outside the bargaining unit. This position is NOT remote. Selectee will be expected to report to the office listed above.
Major duties
Researches and recommends workable solutions and management actions that are based on sound management principles and are achievable in relation to agency policy and regulations. Prepares directives, memoranda, policy statements, and other written guidelines and recommendations for review by management. Provides administrative support to the Area Office, in the absence of administrative support and/or clerical staff, as needed. Analyzes management information requirements to develop program or administrative reporting systems including the systems specifications, data gathering and analytical techniques, and systems evaluation methodology, as needed. Identifies and reviews data required for use in the management and direction of programs. Incumbent may assist with planning, coordinating, and developing budget proposals for the agency.
What you need to qualify
You must meet the Specialized Experience to qualify for Management Anaylst, as described below. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. To qualify for the GS-09: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-07. Qualifying specialized experience for the GS-09 includes: Maintaining and tracking office budget, performing research, gathering data, preparing reports, presenting briefings or analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of program operations. or Education: To qualify based on education applicants must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. or A qualifying combination of education and competencies as described above. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of time-in-grade (52 weeks at the next lower grade), time-after-competitive-appointment (90 days), and minimum qualifications (52 weeks equivalent to the next lower grade in federal service). These requirements must be met within 30 days of 07/23/2026 the announcement closing date.
