Security Assistant
What you'd do
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c). to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Security Assistant, GS-0086-06 with the Army Sustainment Command at Tooele Army Depot, Base Ops (DPW) Management) Security Services.
Major duties
Verify applications for badges are complete and correct in accordance with the individual's status, and determines the validity of identification provided. Issue badges to installation and tenant activity employees, authorized contractor employees, military personnel, and all visitors. Greet, log, assist and direct applicants through the individual Common Access Card process. Enroll eligible dependents of active duty military personnel into the DEERS military health care system. Validate benefit eligibility of dependents through review of necessary legal documentation (marriage, divorce, birth and death certificates, adoption papers, court orders establishing dependency, etc. Enter, update, terminate, retrieve and transmit DEERS transactions using prescribed rules and special instructions for entering, transmitting, receiving and correcting data. Communicate directly with DEERS Support Office and the RAPIDS Assistance Center as well as the Department of the Army proponent to resolve problems. Process all local and national background checks for the installation as dictated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive. Complete checks via the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and the Army Law Enforcement Reporting and Tracking System (ALERTS).

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing security support to an organization by using security systems to verify background information to determine whether to grant installation access. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
