Major duties

Use wet pick-up vacuums, heavy vacuum cleaners, wet mops for double-bucket technique, hand sprayers, cleaning rags, sponge mops, etc. Use hand or powered cleaning equipment when cleaning office areas of the facilities. Work on ladder to clean light fixtures. Clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories (fixtures, sinks, mirrors), urinals, toilet bowls, and water fountains. Load supply carts and ensures that adequate cleaning materials and equipment are available to do the job. Measure and mix germicidal cleaners and anti-bacterial solutions. Clean office spaces, storerooms, corridors, stairways, elevators, treatment rooms, entrances, patient rooms, and other similar areas.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. SKILL and KNOWLEDGE: Ability to perform a full range of cleaning, janitorial and custodial work duties with broad instructions. Knowledge of the proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions to select the appropriate chemical for different surfaces and types of stains. Ability to operate, clean, adjust, and maintain powered cleaning equipment to ensure equipment functions effectively and safely. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Subject to continuous standing, walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lift and move objects weighing approximately 40 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects weighing over 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Work is exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc. Care is required to avoid serious injuries when working on ladders and scaffolds, using heavy powered equipment, etc.
