This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

Major duties

Operate dishwashing machines and sinks using cleaning agents and ensures proper water temperatures and/or pH levels are maintained. Maintain work area in an orderly and sanitary condition and prepares and stores food in accordance with proper sanitation standards that have been established in the SOP. Prepare and wrap items for sale, replenishing items as necessary during service hours. Assemble assigned items on patient trays, ensuring to arrange the tray in a functional and organized manner. Verify and reconcile cash drawer before and after each meal service, separate out change fund, enter appropriate figures on required forms, and clear out cash register to prepare it for the next meal.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common food service and food preparation tasks. I can lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects as well as exposure to grease, water, and extreme temperature. I can set up cafeteria lines. In addition, I can operate a cash collection system for a food service department. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: The work requires the employee to lift items weighing over 80 pounds with assistance; to bend, stoop, push and pull heavy objects; and involves continuous standing, walking and sitting. Must possess good eyesight and coordination for cash register, money handling duties. Working Conditions: Employee performs work in noisy kitchen and dining room areas and is subject to injuries from equipment used. There is exposure to dirt, grease and water in cleaning tasks and exposure to extremes of temperature in bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
