What you'd do

You will serves as the Network Infrastructure System Manager at the Glenn Research Center. Responsibilities include advocacy, planning, designing, developing, operating and maintaining facility network infrastructure equipment, components and systems used to support research and development facilities at the NASA Glenn Research Center.

Major duties

Plans, coordinates, and manages all activities associated with the engineering, operations, and maintenance of assigned systems. Works with branch chief in developing long range and short range plans for improvements in engineering, operations and maintenance for assigned systems. Oversees multi-discipline designs for assigned systems, providing feedback and design review at critical milestones, to include constructability and reliability for assigned systems. Conducts conceptual definition studies and analyses and establishes preliminary design requirements and alternatives for assigned systems. Makes recommendations on projects, operations and maintenance and budgets. Reviews reports and documentation for agency, including in the areas of engineering inspections, investigations, and laboratory analyses, to evaluate agency impacts. Prepares and presents reports, incident documentation, presentations and advocacies for assigned systems.

What you need to qualify

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Supporting the maintenance and operations of institutional or research communications network infrastructure; Interfacing with GRC OCIO contracts and vendors to successfully implement communications network infrastructure repairs or upgrades; and Supporting Construction of Facilities (CoF) communications network infrastructure projects. AND IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Network Systems and Technology - Plans, coordinates, and manages all activities associated with the engineering, operations, and maintenance of assigned systems. Planning and Evaluating - Works with branch chief in developing long range and short range plans for improvements in engineering, operations and maintenance for assigned systems. Teamwork - Works with branch chief in developing long range and short range plans for improvements in engineering, operations and maintenance for assigned systems. Technical Competence - Conducts conceptual definition studies and analyses and establishes preliminary design requirements and alternatives for assigned systems.
