Major duties
Serving as a Visual Information Specialist GS-1084-9/11/12 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Media Support Branch, under the Office of Public Affairs. The primary purpose of this position is to perform work in the analysis, development, and preparation of visual information products in support of the FLETC's various training and administrative programs. This position will have primary responsibility for the production of visual art and information. Typical duties include: Design, format and execute professional two- and three-dimensional computer graphics models, integrate them into a computer storyboard, and animate them for a variety of uses, including but not limited to computer-based training, video, and multi-media classroom presentation. Create layout and design concepts, processes, and techniques, as well as traditional and computer materials and equipment to create visual art and information products are at the discretion and artistic judgement of the position. Plan and execute visual art and information programs including all aspects of graphic design in both traditional and electronic applications, especially as they apply to computer graphics, animation techniques and technologies. (2) Participating in planning and producing visual art and information products, including computer graphics/animation, print media graphics, and/or multimedia exhibits, while learning established procedures and techniques. (3) Supporting the development of production milestones and provides input to subject matter experts, with oversight from higher-level personnel. (4) Applying basic graphic design principles, color theory, illustration techniques, and/or video production processes to meet client needs, while expanding knowledge and skills through on-the-job training and feedback.; OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. (2) Assisting with planning and producing visual art and information products such as computer graphics/animation, print media graphics, and multimedia exhibits for clients. (3) Contributing to the development of production milestones and assisting with recommendations to subject matter experts. (4) Implementing graphic design principles, color theory, illustration techniques, and/or video production processes to meet client needs.; OR A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.; OR A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. You qualify at the GS-12 grade level if you possess the following: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: (1) Developing visual information products in support of training and administrative programs. (2) Independently planning and producing visual art and information products and services such as two- and three-dimensional models, computer graphics/animation, print media graphics, and/or multimedia exhibits for a diverse group of clients. (3) Providing expert consultation to clients, senior management and colleagues regarding design and production of multimedia graphics products when establishing production milestones to meet client requirements. (4) Complying with Section 508 copyright requirements and providing consultation to clients when resolving any copyright discrepancies. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
